In the painting, the Walled-up window painting is ominous in itself. The wildly sprawling vegetation and the water-damaged, damp plaster indicate that the house is abandoned.
During my childhood, an elderly man lived in this property; it was he who bricked up the windows of the house. A few years later, he was robbed and murdered. The man who killed him attended the same primary school as I did. Not long ago, news reports surfaced about a previously imprisoned man committing another murder. The article noted that the perpetrator was the same person who had committed the crime at the house with the walled-up windows.
The creation of this painting was inspired, on one hand, by the negative associations evoked by the walled-up window, which can stand as an independent interpretation of the work. At the same time, the knowledge of these facts and events imbues the image with additional layers of meaning. I find it essential to raise the accompanying questions: where does the responsibility of society end and that of the individual begin? To what extent can the social community or school education intervene to prevent such a tragedy? Is it even capable of doing so, and should that be its role?

A festményen a befalazott ablak már önmagában is baljós. A mellette vadul burjánzó növényzet- és a vakolat elvizesedése jelzik, hogy a ház már elhagyatott.
Az ingatlanban gyerekkoromban egy öreg úr élt, ő falazta be az ablakait a háznak. Néhány év múlva kirabolták és meggyilkolták. A férfi, aki megölte ugyanabba az általános iskolába járt, amelyikbe én is. Nem olyan rég, jelent meg a hírekben, hogy egy korábban börtönre ítélt férfi újra meggyilkolt valakit. A cikk kitért rá, hogy az elkövető ugyanaz a személy volt, aki korábban a befalazott ablakú háznál is.
A festmény elkészítését egyrészt a befalazott ablak által keltett negatív asszociációk inspirálták, ami a kép értelmezésében önmagában is megállhatja a helyét. Ugyanakkor a tények és események ismeretében a kép többletjelentéssel bír. Fontosnak tartom társítani a képhez tartozó tragédiát, valamint, hogy feltehessem az ezzel felvetődő kérdéseket is: hol van a társadalom felelőssége, és hol az egyéné, hol avatkozhat bele a társadalmi közösség, az iskolai nevelés egy hasonló tragédia megelőzésébe, egyáltalán képes-e rá, feladata lehet-e.
